Residential Renovation

Project

Renovating a condo, starting a family

A home reinvented

This 1980s condo, located in the heart of downtown Montreal, needed to be completely renovated and redesigned to reveal its full potential. This new home now has a lot to offer its occupants.

Details of the project

The issue

A blended family is starting a new chapter in Montreal, in a condo located just steps away from the Museum of Fine Arts. The renovation of this downtown space, which was highly desired by the clients, proved to be a real challenge.

Our proposal, which met all their wishes, required major modifications: moving walls, reorganizing plumbing, and integrating lighting into a concrete ceiling. These works, added to the usual constraints of a condominium (regulations, structural limitations of old buildings, and municipal restrictions), required meticulous planning.

The need

The concept

Our concept was based on a few key principles:

Notes on the kitchen

Designed for cooking enthusiasts, this new culinary space offers optimal workspace. The heat-resistant Dekton countertop can accommodate even the hottest dishes, while two built-in dishwashers meet the needs of intensive use. Ingenious storage space, concealed behind a cabinet door, creates a functional pantry where food, small appliances, and precious cookbooks can be organized. This layout cleverly separates the preparation and storage areas, optimizing space.

Notes on the living room

To preserve the feeling of open space, we have delineated the areas with functional and aesthetic elements. The custom-made furniture is the centerpiece: it optimizes storage, discreetly conceals the television, and sets the tone for this inviting living room.

The curtains, meanwhile, are not just a simple addition. They bring visual softness while delicately filtering natural light. This combination creates a space that is both airy and deliberately structured, where each element has its own function while contributing to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the room.

Notes on the bathroom

For total relaxation, we designed a space that integrates a shower and bathtub in a custom-made glass enclosure. This waterproof area ensures optimal comfort and keeps the dry area, dedicated to washing and a double vanity, dry. This maximizes counter space and makes cleaning easier. We opted for wall-mounted faucets to facilitate washing and maintenance. For perfect beauty, backlit anti-fog mirrors provide optimal brightness and visual comfort in all circumstances. Finally, light tones and soft textures create a serene atmosphere conducive to relaxation.
