Project
An elegant pied-à-terre in the prestigious city of Montreal!
A home reinvented
Breathing new life into a Westmount residence, infusing its spaces with fresh energy to create a cocoon where history and modernity meet. An ideal living space for two young men who successfully juggle their studies at the University of Montreal and their football careers with the Carabins.
Details of the project
The issue
Our clients often come to us with space organization challenges: they want more functionality, a more fluid environment for the family, and more welcoming spaces for entertaining.
We are also asked to rejuvenate bathrooms to turn them into truly modern havens. But above all, it is crucial to preserve the heritage, character, and history of the home. We don’t want to erase everything, but rather combine contemporary comfort with the soul of the past.
Our passion? Transforming these issues—lack of functionality, need for conviviality, and respect for the past—into a renovated space that tells a new story, that of our clients. And we love it!
The need
Our clients have clear needs: they want a large, functional kitchen, optimized lighting, and more common areas for the family. Smart storage is also a priority, to keep the house tidy at all times.
But beyond modernity, it was essential to preserve the heritage of the house, to make it more contemporary while respecting its history.
Our mission is to transform these specific needs into a living space where old and new come together perfectly, to the delight of our clients!
The concept
- Kitchen relocated: We completely moved the kitchen into the former dining room, freeing up space.
- Common areas: The former living/dining room has been transformed into a large, fluid, and welcoming common area.
- Load-bearing wall opening: Creation of an opening in a load-bearing wall to maximize light and space.
Notes on the brick wall
While demolishing, we came across old brickwork full of character. That’s the kind of discovery we love!
We scraped everything off and cleaned it carefully to remove the old layers of paint and dirt. Then we sealed it for a protective and durable finish that highlights its texture and natural hues. It’s a beautiful piece of craftsmanship that we’re proud to have accomplished, as it added unexpected warmth and authentic character to the room, transforming a surprise into a real design asset.
Notes sur la cuisine
Notes on the space
This wine cellar integrated into the kitchen is a real stroke of genius. Not only is it incredibly practical, offering direct access to the wine collection, but it is also a design feature that instantly enhances the elegance of the room. Its discreet and refined presence transforms the kitchen into an even more inviting space, combining the art of cooking with the pleasure of tasting. It’s the finishing touch that makes all the difference for epicureans.

The result

We love
The brick
Brick, with its warm hues and natural irregularities, instantly evokes the buildings of yesteryear, lending an authentic character and historical depth to any space. It is a silent guardian of bygone eras, with each joint and pattern telling the architectural story and craftsmanship of previous generations.
The passage with the arch
The ceramic backsplash extending to the ceiling accentuates the effect of grandeur and unifies the wall behind the stove.
The linear drain
The linear drain offers a modern, sleek aesthetic, blending discreetly into the tiling for a minimalist design. It is ideal for walk-in showers, allowing for a single slope and efficient water drainage.
