Plan the heating system in your bathroom

We spend an average of 30 to 60 minutes a day in the bathroom, and during this time, we seek comfort. This comfort mainly comes from warmth. We must therefore plan for efficient heating that can quickly increase the temperature, but also turn off just as quickly once the room is unused. This allows us to maximize energy savings.

Different heating systems for the bathroom

There are several heating options for the bathroom. Let’s take a look at the systems available to us.

Fan Heaters

As its name suggests, this device blows hot air and quickly warms the room. It’s an affordable and easy-to-install solution that can be placed at non-standard heights, allowing you to reclaim space as needed. Some models even have a timer, which saves energy by heating the room only for the time spent there. However, this system can be noisy and consumes a lot of energy.

Towel Warmers

The towel warmer serves a dual purpose: it heats the bathroom and dries towels. This device is very elegant and is available in several finishes and colors. However, it requires some wall space and may not be suitable for small bathrooms.

Underfloor heating

This is an excellent solution for warming up the bathroom without wasting space. Underfloor heating is integrated under the tiles and produces radiant heat. It’s very pleasant to walk barefoot on a warm floor, especially on winter mornings. You can even extend it into the shower. This system is ideal when replacing floor tiles. It is safe and energy-efficient. However, for those who are more sensitive to the cold, it can sometimes take a long time to heat up. It can be installed with a thermostat to program the heat before getting up.

Electric baseboard heaters

This is the most common heating system. Electric baseboard heaters are affordable and suitable for any decor. The disadvantage is that the heated air rises along the wall and remains on the ceiling, which makes the heat uneven and the room takes a long time to warm up. Cold feet are common with this type of heating.

Plan for two heating systems in your bathroom

There is no perfect system; each has its advantages and disadvantages. However, if you are thinking about changing your bathroom heating system, the ideal would be to have a general heating system for the room and a supplementary heater for the busiest times of the day. This way, you will always have optimal comfort.
