What is a certified EcoEntrepreneur?

An EcoEntrepreneur is a professional who is committed to applying best practices for building or renovating in a sustainable and healthy manner. At ESPÉ, we are proud to be certified by the Écohabitation organization, which has accredited us for the excellence of our practices.

To obtain this recognition, we not only passed a rigorous theoretical exam, but we also commit to a minimum of six eco-responsible actions for each renovation project. Here are some of our practices:

Reduce the use of fossil fuels.

Use eco-friendly, local, or recycled products.

Environmentally manage construction waste.

Install low-flow fixtures for water consumption.

Use paint without VOCs (volatile organic compounds).

Provide relevant documentation to clients (for example, on the presence of radon).

Our commitment to the environment is a priority. Knowing that the construction industry is responsible for a significant portion of pollution and waste, it is essential for us to take concrete action. That’s why ESPÉ has held this accreditation for several years, giving us the experience necessary to support you in the ecological renovation of your home.

What actions does ESPÉ take as an EcoEntrepreneur?

We’ve implemented concrete actions to make our services as environmentally friendly as possible.

Deconstruct instead of demolish:

To actively participate in the circular economy in Quebec, we prioritize deconstruction over demolition. This allows us to recover reusable materials for redistributive use.

Responsible waste management:

On our construction sites, we use several recycling bins to recycle materials.

Efficient insulation:

We ensure sound management of the building envelope and install high-performance insulation to improve the energy efficiency of your home.

Health and safety of our customers:

The health of our customers is a priority. That’s why we integrate radon testing into our basement renovations, a proactive approach that ensures the health of your loved ones.

Eco-responsible choices for a sustainable home

We guide you toward choices that benefit both your wallet and the planet.

Materials

Regarding doors and windows, we encourage our customers to opt for Energy Star certified products. These products are up to 20% more energy efficient than standard models, allowing our customers to save on their energy bills. Furthermore, purchasing these windows may qualify for grants. Don’t hesitate to contact us for our guide to available grants.

As an EcoEntrepreneur, we must also offer less toxic building materials, such as VOC-free paints and more water-efficient faucets. We also encourage the use of LED light bulbs, which consume less energy and last longer.

Sustainability at the heart of our projects

We use sustainable and healthy materials to reduce our environmental impact, both by minimizing waste and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Our construction standards go beyond the minimum required by the National Building Code, allowing our clients to enjoy their renovations for longer. For us, sustainability also means a project that stands the test of time.
